QIBLA GUIDE

Why Does the Qibla Direction Vary?

Most apparent disagreements come from different starting coordinates, north references, map projections or unstable compass sensors—not from the Kaaba having more than one location.

Different starting points

A city page uses a representative centre coordinate, while live location uses your actual position. These can produce slightly different bearings, especially across a large urban area.

Different calculation conventions

QiblaPoint uses the initial great-circle bearing, the direction of the shortest surface route on a spherical Earth model. A simple straight line drawn on a projected world map is not the same calculation.

Different north references

One reading may use true north while an uncorrected compass uses magnetic north. Add sensor interference and two displays can look inconsistent even when the geographic bearing is sound.

Use the live Qibla finder for your exact position, or choose a published bearing from the city directory.
